How many ad creatives should a small brand test each week?

A small brand should test as many genuinely different ad ideas each week as its budget can bring to a verdict, usually three to ten, rather than many rewordings of one idea. HookVerdict works out how many concepts your remaining weekly test budget supports, and writes that many different angles with a hypothesis each.

Why this is hard

Big ad teams ship dozens of new ads a week, and public accounts of programmes like Wispr Flow's describe around 50 new ads a week. A brand spending a few lakh a month can't fund that many tests, and copying the number wastes money.

The number that matters is how many ideas can reach a verdict. Each test needs enough spend to say win or lose. Divide your weekly test budget by about twice your target cost per order, and you have a realistic number of concepts.

How to do it in HookVerdict

  1. 01Set your guardrails

Under Guardrails, set your test budget and your target cost per order. HookVerdict uses them to work out how many concepts your budget supports this week.

  2. 02See the number in Create

Create shows your remaining weekly test budget and roughly how many concepts can reach a verdict at 2× target cost per order.

  3. 03Generate that many different angles

Ask for that many angles. Each targets a different buyer or reason to buy, so they don't compete with each other in Meta's delivery.

  4. 04Turn on overnight batches

In Brand, turn on overnight batches. A fresh, policy-checked shortlist in your languages lands in your review queue in the morning, so you always have the next ideas ready.

Tips

  • Different means a different angle, persona, format or language, not a new adjective.
  • Keep a backlog: when an ad is killed, the next idea should already be approved.
  • Retire ads that show creative fatigue and replace them from the backlog.

When HookVerdict is not the right tool

If you already have an in-house team that writes 50 ads a week and you mainly need analytics across thousands of ads, a creative analytics tool such as Motion is built for that scale.

Questions

Is more always better?
No. More ideas than your budget can test means none of them reaches a verdict. Fewer, more different ideas teach you more.
Do overnight batches cost extra?
Not during your free first 3 months. After that, the Indian-language versions are charged at what they cost us, and English drafting runs on our own AI server.
What if I don't know my target cost per order?
Use the free breakeven ROAS calculator to work out what one order is worth after COD, returns and GST.
